I don't believe you can do this.  I know when the new version comes out (projected Q2 of 2010) you will be able to do this.

I had a client who exported all their assets from the multiple companies, put them all into a single spreadsheet, and then reimported them into one company.  If you do go this route it remember to use a field to represent your center to you can run reconciliation reports.
