Our company has approximately 1,200 assets loaded in the system.  Home office is asking for assets to be summarized specifically to their needs.  I have exported the asset listing into excel. I have then created a file that cross references the asset system number to an alpha/numeric user defined description in excel so I can join and export and my excel file to meet the reporting requirements.  Is there any easy way for me to simply import my user defined information into the system by the asset system number?  I would hate to manually key in the information into the User Field 1

Have you found a solution to your problem? I am going through something similar also.

I have an idea to export the file into excel, add the user defined descriptions, change my import map to include the new field, then import that file into a new company. I have not done it yet because I will be losing history.
